I have visited Mimi’s Café a number of times since me and my husband moved to Broomfield about a year ago. They are good for breakfast and brunch mostly though we have had occasional dinners and lunches there as well.
I think a good breakfast-brunch restaurant should be affordable so that people who don’t cook at home or don’t have the time to make breakfast won’t feel guilty about wasting money eating out every day of the week. Now we are not one of those couples who don’t eat breakfast at home at all, but we do love eating out in the mornings once a week. I have always loved a hot cooked breakfast since the time when I was a kid and Mom used to make wonderful pancakes, biscuits or scrambled eggs every morning. Ah .. the smell of coffee and eggs in the house when you get up from bed! Wow. I miss those days. Amway, so you can understand that I love my breakfast. A lot. So Mimi’s Café had a lot to measure up to.
Every time we have gone in, we have been greeted by the server and a table pointed out for us. As we settle in, we are given the menu quickly. Now of course there may have been a few lapses when the customers are all over the place. But we really don’t mind waiting a bit as long as we have a table to sit at. I love the scrambled eggs this place serves. It is light and creamy and is not drenched in butter (something a lot of places mistakenly do). It is just right for my taste. My husband loves the hash browns or the eggs and bacon. We also often order the muffins. They are light, spongy and very delicious. We have also packed away a few muffins for the home sometimes and they are great to have with tea in the evening (I need a snack sometimes!). The breakfast options are good, filling and will fill you up nicely till lunchtime.
We also eat out at this place for lunch and dinner sometimes and the food is just fine. There is a good collection of beers in store for times you need something to drink. I usually have wine. The Chicken Brie Dijon is definitely something I will eat once again, so good it was the one time I had it. The Chicken Madiera is my husband’s favorite main course dish there and he orders it every time we are there.
To us, cleanliness is very important at an eating joint. And Mimi’s Café has a good maintenance staff. The ladies’ room is always clean and there are no yucky smells coming out.
The servers are friendly and attentive and though we usually don’t need any help while choosing dishes off the menu, I find that the servers are usually around whenever you need them. Obviously, we always tip them to thank them for a great meal. Definitely a place we will be continuing to visit for many more years.
